Semester Break: Garden Route/Road Trip




Wasup everybody, first off I hope everyone had a beautiful Easter weekend and were able to spend it in the company of good family and/or friends. Its been a minute since my last post but hopefulyy this one will be worth the wait. I wanna keep the talking short n let the pictures do the talking, but this post is from my semester break in which my program(AIFS) took us on the famed Garden Route Tour, and after when my roommate Phil and our friend Caitlin embarked on a cross country road trip covering over 3 thousand K's!!(kilometers)(1,875 miles for u americans reading this lol)

Wow, I cant believe i've been here for over a month already!! Im lovin every minute of my time here so far.....well that is almost every minute. In case you forgot Im not just here living in South Africa, but im actually going to school(I actually forgot about that in the weeks leading up to my coming here lol). But with that said, everything socially and educationally are going well. Im taking 5 classes here; Public Theology, World History, Afrikaans, Sociology-Politics and Cultural Change in Contemporary South Africa and Political Science-Transitional Justice(pray 4 me yall). I just finished writing a paper for my history class I have due tomorrow(Friday) and am looking forward to relaxing this weekend. O yea, im also helping coach a basketball tem here in the township of Kayamandi. The team consists of boys ages 8 to 16 from the Kayamandi Primary and Secondary schools. Those who know me know my passion for sports so doin this is really exciting for me. Our first game is monday so hopefully we'll see some results haha. Last but not least, Big shout out to PVHS room 411!!! study hard yall, lookin forward to seein u guys again when im back.

First off I must say....HAPPY VALENTINES DAY everyone!! So its been a lil bit since I first spoke to you all on here, but im doing just fine. The following are pics from this weekend where on saturday I visited Strand beach and today(sunday) as a group, we visited Boulders Beach where the penguins are as well as The Cape of Good Hope which is the most southwestern point in all of Africa.

Weekend at the Cederberg Mountains!!






Im still trying to get the videos sorted out, but here are a few pictures for now.

I apologize, but I FINALLY have my blog going. I know its taken me two weeks to get going but im finally on here. What Im going to try and do is make this a video blog so you all can see and be a part of some of my experiences here in South Africa. Once again for those of you who are unaware, I am studying at Stellenbosch University in Stellenbosch, South Africa(There version of Napa Valley for you wine connoisseurs lol). This past weekend our group of 47 Americans as well as our program director Hestea De Wet and some of her assistants took a trip to the cederberg mountains. These first videos are from this trip.
